24-year-old Zimbabwean national drowned in the sea off Lefke

A 24-year-old Zimbabwean national drowned in the sea off Lefke in the late hours of Thursday.

Lovejoy Zinyuke, 24, went swimming in the sea last at about 9:15pm on Thursday, August, 4 when he drowned.

Police in its report said Lovejoy Zinyuke was in danger of drowning while swimming and was rescued by his friends but could not be saved despite all efforts made while he was taken to the hospital by ambulance. 

An eyewitness who spoke to Olomoinfo about the incident, said Lovejoy might have died out of frustration. According to the source, Lovejoy first entered the sea but was rescued by someone and then left alone. Then he entered the water the second time and nobody saw him. They brought him out and did a CPR on him but could not be saved.

Police investigation into the incident continues.
