27-year-old man die in accident on the Bosphorus-Gönyeli road

A 27-year-old man has died and another seriously wounded in an accident that happened on the Gönyeli-Bosphorus road early Friday morning.

The accident which occurred at around 1:15am on Friday night on the Gönyeli-Bosphorus road, known as the "Old Kyrenia road" in Boğazköy, Lefkosa left the driver of the vehicle dead and his passenger seriously injured.

The driver, Ercan Bicer was driving northwards on Atatürk Caddesi, when he lost control of the steering while turning a corner and his car then struck a tree on the roadside. He died at the scene of the accident.

Mehmet Yapici, 26 who was a passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured and was taken to teh Lefkosa State Hospital where he remains in intensive care.

Police are investigating the accident.
