Cameroon student brutally assaulted, loses one of his eyes

Two Turkish men have been arrested for brutally assaulting a Cameroon student causing him to lose one of his eyes.

According to report on Turkish Cypriot daily, Adabasini, the incident happened on Monday, August, 15 at Olcay 12 Apartment, located on Osman Yusuf Street in Lefkosa.

The two suspects, identified only as M.T and H.T reportedly got into an argument with the victim identified as Boris Ndip Takang, 25 who lives in the said apartment. This led to them battering him seriously causing his right eye to bleed and causing serious bodily harm too.

Police said the fight started over an argument instigated by one of the suspect, H.T over the movement of their properties out of the apartment.

One of the suspect M.T was detected and arrested on Tuesday, August, 16 while trying to escape the TRNC from Ercan Airport.

They were taken to a court in Lefkosa on charges of grave damage and serious assault.

Boris Ndip Takang was taken under observation at the Lefkosa State Hospital and discharged the same day but his life was not in any danger.

His friend who also spoke with us, said; These guys literally called boys to force my friends to park out of the appartment for no good reason. And when they want to leave with their stuffs they refused. My friend called the police.

Police came and asked the white guys to let go since they're not owing and they're willing to drop their deposit. Immediately the police took off, they started using violence and my friend will now live the rest of his life wit an eye.

Speaking to Olomoinfo, the victim said the men were his caretaker who had come to eject them from the apartment. He said he is  in serious pain and has lost one of his eyes. He expressed his fear that the case might not be taken seriously as he wants justice to be done.

The police demanded that the suspects be kept in police custody for 3 days in the first place, since the issue is a serious one and although it is not life-threatening for the complainant to be still in the hospital, the information received from the doctors was that he was going to undergo an operation and because it was an important operation, it was essential for the suspects to be detained in the police during this process.
