Men who made Cameroonian to lose an eye to remain in detention

The two men who assaulted a Cameroonian which led to him losing one of his eyes will remain in detention until trial.

The suspects, Muhammed Tapınç and Hasan Tapınç, were arrested for grave damage and serious assault in Lefkosa earlier this week.

Police sergeant who testified in the court, stated that the suspects Muhammed Tapınç and Hasan Tapınç committed crimes of grave damage and serious assault against the victim at Olcay 12 Apartment, Floor 9, Apartment 17 located on Osman Yusuf Street in Lefkosa on Monday, August, 15.

Police said the incident happened as a result of an argument that resulted between the victim and the suspect who is the caretaker of the apartment about to be vacated by the victim. 

The suspects hit the victim, Boris Ndip Takang, 25 with his fist in the face, causing his right eye to be blinded. He also caused him bodily harm.

The police stated that the suspect Muhammed Tapınç was detected and arrested while trying to escape from Ercan Airport on 16 August. 

Police said the matter was a serious one and that the victim was stuck with a piercing tool.

They were detained for another 5 days for more investigation to be carried out on the matter.
