Two African men detained in south Cyprus for trying to leave with fake passports

Two men from Africa trying to leave Cyprus with fake passports were arrested at the Paphos airport in south Cyprus on Wednesday.

Greek Cypriot police said they are investigating two different cases of fake passports involving two men of African descent trying to leave Cyprus for Europe.

The one, who is 22 and from Gambia, was trying to fly from Paphos Airport to Germany.

The second, aged 28 and from Congo, was trying to fly to Brussels on a French passport whose photo was showing a different person from the holder.

Both men were arrested and remanded in custody with investigations being ongoing.
