Two African women arrested at Paphos Airport for cases of identity theft

Two African women has been arrested by Greek Cypriot Airport authority for trying to leave the country with a stolen identity and fake id.

The incident happened in Paphos on Saturday and Sunday. The women aged 37 and 43 were arrested for a case of identity theft.

According to the spokesman of the Paphos CID, on Saturday morning a woman of African origin went to the Airport to travel to Brussels. She presented a Belgian passport but it was ascertained that the photo on the passport was different from the person presenting it. When interrogated she said that indeed that was not her passport and that she was from Congo. The woman was arrested.

On Sunday another woman of African origin appeared at the Airport aiming to travel to Italy, with an ID from Luxembourg. During passport control it was ascertain that the ID was forged. When asked she said that she comes from Cameroon and admitted that the papers she presented were forged. She was arrested.

Investigations continue.
