Cost of living went up by 3.31 per cent in August

The cost of living went up by 3.31 per cent in August compared to the previous month of July and 118.18 per cent compared to the period last year, the TRNC Statistics Department announced on Monday.

Prices continued to rise in August in parallel to rising inflation, according to the Consumer Price Index with inflation going up by 3.31 per cent in just one month.

Annual inflation rose by 118.18 per cent.

The highest rise in prices was seen in the entertainment and culture main group with a 20.66 per cent increase.

Prices of furniture, house tools, health, food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco, restaurant dining and hotels, housing, utility bills, fuel and education all rose during this time period.
