Man stabbed another 3 times for swearing at his mother

A man has been arrested for stabbing and wounding another with a knife in Lefkosa because he cursed his mother.

The incident happened at around 11:45pm on Monday in Lefkosa,

The suspect identified only as KMD was arrested on Monday and taken to court on Tuesday on charges of "Injury", "Unlawful Carrying Knife" and "Drunkenness".

Police in a court statement said the suspect, whose breath detected 63 milligrams of alcohol, injured Derviş Aksoy, 21, with a knife in his left leg, left hip and abdomen, and fled.

Police said the suspect threw the knife in question to the side of a business called Simit Dünyası operating on Girne Street.

Derviş Aksoy, who was injured in the incident, was taken to a hospital where he was taken under observation after his treatment.

The police stated that the knife was found at the place where it was thrown on the same day and that the suspect was identified and arrested as per the pending order obtained from the Lefkosia District Court.

At this stage, the police stated that the investigation had only just begun and demanded that the suspect be detained in the police for 3 more days since the statements to be taken and the camera footage to be examined.
