Student trying to travel to Germany with a fake ID held at Ercan Airport, detained for two months

A student who was caught trying to exit the country via Ercan Airport with a fake ID, was arrested and taken to court.

The suspect identified only as D.A, was arrested at Ercan Airport at about 8:10am on Tuesday while trying to travel to Germany with a fake ID.

Police in it's investigation found out that the suspect entered the country on April 4 with a 60-day visa, and did not leave on June 3 when it expired and continued to stay in the country without a residence permit.

She was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Wednesday.

Police in a court statement said the suspect tried to impersonate someone else by false behavior by giving using an Italian identity card registered under another name.

Police said the suspect, who voluntarily gave a statement on the matter, confessed to her crime Police stated that in the examination carried out on the ID in question at the PGM Forgery branch, it was determined that there were differences between the picture on the ID and the suspect.  

The police stated that the investigation initiated against the suspect was completed and demanded that the suspect be kept in detention in the Central Prison for 2 months.

She was sent to the Central Prison for 2 months until their cases were discussed.
