Two people injured in separate accidents, faulty drivers fled scene of accident

One person was injured in a road accident on the Kyrenia-Guzelyurt Main Road and a pedestrian was hit by a car driven by an underage in a separate that happened in Lefkosa on Tuesday evening.

According to police report, the first accident happened at around 6:30pm on Tuesday at Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street when a 17-year-old child driver, who was driving without a license and without insurance, hit a pedestrian trying to cross a street and fled the scene.  

Police said a person identified only as SE made a false statement to the police claiming that he had caused the accident.

Police said the suspect who was driving on a lane,left in the lane to another while driving recklessly towards the south direction of the road, when he came to the Lefkosia Betting and collided with Ezgi KANİZ, 22 who was trying to cross the road on foot on the pedestrian crossing.  

After the accident, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle left his vehicle near the accident scene and left the scene with another vehicle. 

Within the scope of the investigation, AE, the driver of the vehicle and SE, 56, who made false statements to the police that he had caused the accident in question, were arrested.

The pedestrian injured as a result of the accident was taken under observation after his treatment at the Lefkosia Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. The investigation continues.

In a similar development, one person was injured in an accident that happened on the Kyrenia-Guzelyurt Main Road at round 8:30pm on Tuesday.

The car was heading towards Kyrenia between 2-3 kilometers on the Kyrenia-Guzelyurt Main Road, when the driver tried to overtake a car at excessive speed and carelessly from the right, when he crashed unto a car coming from the opposite direction.

Driver of the second vehicle, Rüstemoğlu, 53 was injured and taken under observation after his treatment at the Lefkosa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. 

The driver of the vehicle left the scene after the accident, and is wanted by the police.
