Two Syrian nationals entered TRNC illegally

Two Syrian nationals were arrested for entering the northern part of Cyprus in violation of the military forbidden zone.

Both suspects were brought to court and sent to the Central Prison, not exceeding one month.

Police officer who testified about the incident in court said on September 10, two Syrian nationals were found to have violated the first degree military forbidden zone and entered the TRNC illegally.

Stating that the investigation initiated regarding the issue was completed the police demanded that they be held in pre-trial detention in order to be ready for their cases, since they do not have a legal status.

Evaluating the testimony the judge ordered that the two suspects, who do not have legal status, be kept in prison for a period not exceeding one month.
