Man sentenced to 8 years in prison for rape of two minors in Girne

A man who raped two minors in Girne has been sentenced to 8 years in prison by a Girne court.

The verdict was delivered on Friday last week.

The defendant, Cumali Çinçar, committed the crime in a park in Girne on March, 20, 2022.

He was arrested and taken to the Girne High Criminal Court for sexually abusing two 5-year-old girls.

The heavy penal committee stated that the accused was on trial for sexual abuse against children under the age of 16.

In the decision of the delegation, it was announced that the defendant took two 5-year-old girls to the park in Kyrenia on March 20, 2022, at around 4:00pm, and took them to the back of the 23 Nisan Primary School and sexually abused two girls there.

It was stated that the citizens who saw the incident intervened in the situation and the accused was caught upon notice. It was stated that sexual crimes and sexual crimes against children tend to be widespread.

It was stated that such crimes cause public concern and outrage, and that deterrent and exemplary punishments should be given.

The Girne Heavy Penal Board announced that they unanimously sentenced the accused to 8 years in prison.
