Police nabbed man who swallowed drugs at Ercan after a tip off

A man who was reported to have hidden drugs in various parts of his body was held on arrival at Ercan Airport in North Cyprus.

The suspect identified only as Ö.E., was caught and arrested at the Ercan Airport in North Cyprus on Wednesday after it was reported that he would enter the country with drugs hidden in various parts of his body. 

He was taken to court on Thursday on charges of importing and disposing of illegal drugs (Methamfetamine).

Police said drugs hidden in various parts of his body were detected in the X-ray taken at the hospital.

Police in a court statement said they the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate had received a notice about the suspect and quickly acted upon the notice which led to his arrest.

It was revealed that he was hiding drugs in his stomach and anus in the X-ray and tomography taken at the hospital.

Nothing illegal was found in the control carried out on his belongings and in his residence in Alsanca. Police said he had refused the X-ray and tomography request.

Police said that the suspect initially remained silent during his interrogation, and later admitted that he had drugs in his anus.

In the examination of the suspect; Police said that a substance believed to be a methamphetamine type drug, weighing approximately 100 grams, wrapped in transparent duct tapes in the breech, was found evidence.
