Drunk woman assault police officer at Ercan Airport

A woman who was unruly and assaulted a police officer on duty at the Ercan airport in Lefkosa, northern Cyprus was arrested on Sunday.

The woman identified only as BA, 33 who was under the influence of alcohol at around 7:00am on Sunday, October, 30 verbally assaulted a police officer during immigration process.

She was arrested and taken to court on Monday on charges of acting inappropriately during immigration process at Ercan Airport while under the influence of alcohol.

The woman was said to have continued her outburst at the police station after her arrest, swearing and kicking the on-duty policemen. She refused an alcohol test.

Police officer who testified in court, said the woman during immigration procedure while under the influence of alcohol acted inappropriately by yelling and swearing at the officers without a reasonable excuse, by giving them an old plane ticket.

Explaining that after the incident, she prevented the police from his duty by swearing at the police officers and kicking a police sergeant and a female police officer while she continue her outbursts in the Police Station, where she was taken to. Police said her breath smelled of alcohol, but she did not allow an alcohol test.

The police said that the investigation regarding the matter was completed and demanded that the court be given the appropriate guarantee in order to ensure that they are ready for their cases in the future.
