Yellow alert for strong rain in Cyprus

The Cyprus Met office has issued a yellow alert for strong rain and isolated thunderstorms across the island on Monday.

The warning will be in effect from 8am to 6pm.

During storms, precipitation rates are expected to range between 35 and 50 millimetres per hour.

Winds will be variable, easterly to north-easterly, light to moderate, force 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight to moderate.

Temperature will rise to 17 degrees Celsius inland, 17 C to 18 C in coastal areas and 9 C in the mountains.
