Man who was once deported from the TRNC returns with a fake passport

A man who was deported from the TRNC for living illegally in the country but then returned to the country with a different passport has been arrested by the police.

The suspect identified only as AH, was expelled from the TRNC in 2018 on the grounds that he was 'without a residence permit,' He then returned to the country with a fake passport and obtained preliminary permission from both the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Interior.

He was arrested last week along with another suspect identified only as AA for his connection with the case.

They were taken to court on Friday, March, 24 on charges of "using counterfeit documents" and "obtaining money fraudulently".

Police said the suspect was detected illegally in Famagusta on July 9, 2018 and expelled with the decision of the Council of Ministers.

On January, 18, 2020, the suspect returned to the TRNC with a Bangladeshi passport, which he had forged for 330 Euros.

The police said that the suspect, through AA, used the fake passport in a process in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor thereby, impersonating someone else, and obtaining preliminary permission and obtaining a false registration.

Police said that both suspects were arrested by court order and the fake passport in question was taken as a circumstantial evidence.

Noting that the suspects gave voluntary confession statements regarding the issue, the police noted that although the issue is a serious one, the investigation has just begun and that the voluntary statements will be confirmed and disproved.

The police demanded that the suspects remain in police custody for another 5 days.
