Vehicle found abandoned in a pit by it's owner after an accident

Turkish Cypriot police on Friday found an upturned car abandoned by the driver in a stream bed after it was involved in an accident.

The rental car was found by the side of Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in front of the Alpet garage in Lefkosa at around 4:45am on Friday.

According to police report, it had crashed through metal railings and fallen five metres into the stream bed, landing on its roof.

The statement said the driver of the vehicle lost control of the wheel while driving west of the road.

The driver fled the scene and the police are investigating the accident.
