Man who entered Turkiye with fake British passport deported back to TRNC

A man who entered the TRNC from south Cyprus through a Lefkosa crossing point with a fake British passport and then exited the country from Ercan Airport was arrested while entering Turkey.

The suspect named only as KA, on arriving at the Antalya Airport, Turkiye on Monday, April, 17, was declared an inadmissible passenger due to a fake passport.

He was sent back to north Cyprus on Tuesday, April, 18, arrested on his return and taken to a court on Thursday.

Police said the suspect first crossed the Lokmacı crossing point in Lefkosa to the TRNC before leaving for Turkiye.

Police stated that the suspect gave a statement that he brought the passport from Turkey about 2 weeks ago in exchange for $6,000.

Stating that the investigation initiated regarding the issue is new, the police said that the suspect's statement will be confirmed and refuted, and demanded that he be detained in the police for 3 days.
