97 accidents, 1 death, 22 injured in 1 week in north Cyprus

97 traffic accidents were recorded in the last one week with 1 death and 22 people injured.

According to the weekly traffic report published by the Police Press Officer, the causes of traffic accidents that occurred between May 15 and May 21 were; “Driving at speed (28) , driving recklessly (21), not stopping at the intersection (13), following closely (16) and other factors (19)”.

The total damage resulting from the accidents was 3 million 720 thousand TL.

During the same period, as a result of the traffic controls carried out by the police across the country, a total of 11,298 vehicle drivers were checked and 886 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes were reported and legal action was initiated against them. The distribution of crimes is as follows:

“Speeding (197), Dangerous Driving (19), Reckless Driving (40), Driving Without a Navigation License (15), Driving Without a Driving License (5), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (35), Using a Cell Phone While Driving ( 175), Driving Without a Seat Belt (39), Failure to Follow Traffic Signs and Signs (120), Failure to Follow Traffic Lights (4), Driving Without Inspection (15), Driving Without Insurance or Out of Scope (20), "A" Road Driving Unauthorized Driving a Vehicle (6), "B" Private Business Driving Without Permission (2), Riding a Motorcycle Without a Protective Helmet (5), Not Carrying a Taximeter in a Taxi or Not Operating the Meter while Carrying Passengers or using it fraudulently (1) and 188 other traffic offenses.”
