Man and girlfriend arrested by the police for theft in Girne

A man who broke into a house in Girne and stole money, phone and gold and then went to his girlfriend's house to hide has been arrested along with his girlfriend.  

The suspect named only as EK,31 and his girlfriend named as FS, 22 were arrested within the scope of investigation carried out regarding an incident of housebreaking and theft that took place in Girne between May, 16-18.

They were taken to a court on Friday on charges of entering a house illegally and theft.

Police said the suspect in the early hours of Wednesday entered a house in Girne where he stole 3,000TL in cash which he found in a backpack on the table, 2 gold coins with a total value of 50,000TL, 1 in square form, wrapped in a handkerchief, 5 grams of gold, 1 piece of 5 gram gold in a square shape, 1 piece of cuff model gold bracelet, 1 piece of half gold, 1 piece of hello kity gold earring, 1 piece of gold necklace with round stones, 1 piece of gold earrings, 1 piece of gold earrings in the shape of a ball, 1 gold amulet and 2 gold pendants, one white and the other blue.

The suspect was identified on Friday, May 19 in Kyrenia, with the jewelery he had stolen and a total of 600 TL in cash, at his girlfriend's home.

In the interrogation made after the suspect's arrest, the police said that he confessed to stealing 6,000TL in cash and 2 mobile phones with a total value of 20,000TL in a bag found on the table in the bedroom of the same house.

The police stated that 2 mobile phones, which the suspect had stolen, were found in the possession of the suspect girlfriend and were taken as evidence.

Noting that the suspects voluntarily testify about the incident, police said their statements should be confirmed, and that the camera footage would be examined, and that they should be detained in police custody for 3 days in the first place.
