The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) has announced via social media that a technical failure in the power grid has caused electricity outages across all districts.
In the statement, KIB-TEK said: “Due to a malfunction in the electricity network, there are regional outages. Power restoration will begin based on the progress of the repairs.”
Authorities are working to resolve the issue, and updates will be provided as the situation develops.
Ahmet Tuğcu, President of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees’ Union (EL-SEN), announced that a fault in the network output lines of the Teknecik Power Plant has caused both thermal power plants and Diesel-2 engines to go offline.
The malfunction led to frequency fluctuations, resulting in widespread power outages across the country.
Tuğcu stated that EL-SEN teams are working non-stop to repair the fault and restore the power supply.
Further updates are expected as efforts to resolve the issue continue.
