<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Iran has been a major backer of President Bashar al-Assad during

danger of going blind because of too much time staring at mobile phones
and too little time outside.</b></span></div>
<figure aria-describedby="caption-attachment-243467" class="wp-caption aligncenter" id="attachment_243467" style="width: 632px;"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;"><img alt="Allowing children stare at phones for too much is a pandemic waiting to happen - Eye surgeons warn" class="wp-image-243467 size-full td-animation-stack-type0-1" height="375" src="https://ladunliadinews.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/eye.png" width="632" /></span></figure>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Children as young as four are wearing special contact lenses to
counter the growing problem with doctors increasingly seeing teenagers
with the worst possible score for short-sightedness.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">It is thought that the worrying increase is a result of children
straining to look at mobile phones up close while not spending enough
time focusing on further distances outside in daylight.</span></p><div class="ZYtX9kOm" style="clear: both; float: left; margin: 0 0 20px 0; width: 100%;"><center>

</center></div>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Dr John Bolger, a consultant ophthalmologist and director of a
private eye clinic in North London, says he is deeply concerned by the
rise in children developing short-sightedness, known as myopia,
describing it as a <strong>‘pandemic’</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">He told the Mail: ‘There are more and more myopic children coming
into the clinic. It’s going up and up. There’s no slowing down from what
I can see.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">‘Myopia is not just having to wear glasses, people can go blind from
myopia. This is not a trivial event, this is a serious threat.’</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">The surgeon explained that extended periods of looking at screens can
lead to elongation of the eyeball – and that the effects of the Covid
pandemic have exacerbated ‘a pandemic of myopia’.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Not spending enough time outside also hinders a child’s exposure to
natural light, which is essential for regulating the growth of the
eyeball and reducing the risk of myopia.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">He said: ‘We’ve had children who’ve said four or five days passed
during lockdown when they didn’t step outside the front door, and I’m
absolutely convinced that there are many of them who would not be myopic
had it not been for lockdown.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">‘We’ve got children as young as four or five wearing contact lenses
and children with as much as -20 prescription, and this causes very
significant challenges for how they live their lives. It’s not easy. It
is a disability, there’s no other way of saying it.’</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Dr Bolger said that some of his young patients sleep wearing special
contact lenses that change the shape of the cornea. It slows down the
progression of myopia and allows them to see normally when they wake up.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Last week, Prince William called for people to spend less time on
their phones, saying ‘we have got to be better at it’ while visiting the
opening of a new youth club in White City, London.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">He said ‘the grownups are guilty of it too’ when one youngster confessed to scrolling for too long.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Research shows that myopia has doubled over the last 50 years in the
UK and that children are becoming myopic at younger ages, with over a
quarter of 15-to-16 year olds now having myopia.</span></p><p></p>Olomoinfohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651901067828826891noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316005999455363781.post-26185543466966908312024-03-19T08:00:00.007+02:002024-03-19T08:00:00.142+02:00Nottingham Forest deducted four points for financial rules breach<p><b></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaTLtW3j8Wnra-oO8F9WscWFBGCadikLB8Vvs5Yq_yXA8f50iUqkeDBx6ffMuD2EdC3A9-zYMzaoW6eoxE8n3KqzdbddlrY2XRr2St7ZQiXyx7E8dVIE5XnJyF2WtNzzul3131jqdq4huFBRvzJZB8fJuO9E6ldnsrDACCqTkNAqFaEvPgfQ2uXpEhki0/s600/Nottingham-Forest-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaTLtW3j8Wnra-oO8F9WscWFBGCadikLB8Vvs5Yq_yXA8f50iUqkeDBx6ffMuD2EdC3A9-zYMzaoW6eoxE8n3KqzdbddlrY2XRr2St7ZQiXyx7E8dVIE5XnJyF2WtNzzul3131jqdq4huFBRvzJZB8fJuO9E6ldnsrDACCqTkNAqFaEvPgfQ2uXpEhki0/w640-h426/Nottingham-Forest-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></b></div><b><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Nottingham Forest have been deducted four points for breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR), the league announced on Monday, moving the side into the relegation zone.</span></span></b><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Forest
had 25 points after 29 games this season, but after Monday's deduction

behind Luton Town.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">"The
independent Commission determined the sanction following a two-day
hearing this month, at which the club had the opportunity to detail a

demonstrated 'exceptional cooperation' in its dealings with the Premier
League throughout the process," the Premier League said in a statement.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The
independent commission's report said Forest's charge warranted a
six-point penalty but was reduced to four points after mitigation, which
included an early plea and meaningful cooperation with the
investigation.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Forest said they were "extremely disappointed" with the decision in a club statement published later on Monday.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">"We were extremely dismayed by the tone and content of the Premier League's submissions before the Commission," it said.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">"After

sought a sanction of eight points as a starting point was utterly
disproportionate when compared to the nine points that their own rules
prescribe for insolvency."</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Premier League regulations stipulate that a club can lose no more than £105 million ($133.6m) over a three-year period.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The
rules apply differently to Forest, owing to the fact that they were in
the second-tier Championship until 2022, where clubs are permitted a
maximum loss of £39m ($49.6m) across three seasons or £13m ($16.6m) per
season, meaning their permissible losses over the last three campaigns
would add up to £61m ($77.7m).</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Forest were charged in January for breaching those regulations over the period ending in the 2022-23 season.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Upon
their promotion ahead of the 2022-23 season, Forest broke the record

<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Following their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce players gathered in the centre of the pitch to celebrate.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">However, according to the Mirror, their jubilation was short-lived as
a lone Trabzonspor supporter breached the field to provoke the players.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Security intervened, but the situation quickly surged, as fans flooded onto the pitch.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Amid the chaos, former QPR winger Bright Osayi-Samuel was seen engaging in a physical altercation with a pitch-invading fan.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The Nigerian international, who joined Fenerbahce in 2021, reacted swiftly, landing a punch on the intruder.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Meanwhile, Michy Batshuayi also tried to confront another fan, leading to moments of tension and conflict on the field.</span></span></p><p></p>Olomoinfohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651901067828826891noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316005999455363781.post-69318692658664705482024-03-18T11:00:00.006+02:002024-03-18T12:44:16.857+02:00Putin wins Russia election in landslide with no serious competition<p><b></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTf2vzYrKIKcDSrEIFBK0YJVC5laFbERJaAePVVr0ofd35WbvJoJZgryrdHn8FrDNQ7usubstl9dEwHXsivbNF8JCevpaFIEVzuoRYgS0z5ZTI3shzxfs1NkpKA8jb3Iei3ta13DkmhK5c85qQQ3bzq9-ynOcgUc-5hnnNhFa-242fidmaLY8xYPPDoUk/s807/65f7da5658da3.webp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="807" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTf2vzYrKIKcDSrEIFBK0YJVC5laFbERJaAePVVr0ofd35WbvJoJZgryrdHn8FrDNQ7usubstl9dEwHXsivbNF8JCevpaFIEVzuoRYgS0z5ZTI3shzxfs1NkpKA8jb3Iei3ta13DkmhK5c85qQQ3bzq9-ynOcgUc-5hnnNhFa-242fidmaLY8xYPPDoUk/w640-h396/65f7da5658da3.webp" width="640" /></a></b></div><b><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">President Vladimir Putin won a record post-Soviet landslide in

West and send its troops into Ukraine.</span></span></b><p></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Putin, a former KGB lieutenant colonel who first rose to power in

won 87.8% of the vote, the highest ever result in Russia’s post-Soviet
history, according to an exit poll by pollster the Public Opinion
Foundation (FOM). The Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) put
Putin on 87%. First official results indicated the polls were accurate.
The United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and other nations have
said the vote was neither free nor fair due to the imprisonment of
political opponents and censorship.</span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Communist candidate Nikolai Kharitonov finished second with just
under 4%, newcomer Vladislav Davankov third, and ultra-nationalist
Leonid Slutsky fourth, partial results suggested.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Putin told supporters in a victory speech in Moscow that he would
prioritise resolving tasks associated with what he called Russia’s
“special military operation” in Ukraine and would strengthen the Russian
military.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“We have many tasks ahead. But when we are consolidated – no matter
who wants to intimidate us, suppress us – nobody has ever succeeded in
history, they have not succeeded now, and they will not succeed ever in
the future,” said Putin.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Supporters chanted “Putin, Putin, Putin” when he appeared on stage
and “Russia, Russia, Russia” after he had delivered his acceptance
speech.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Inspired by opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in an Arctic
prison last month, thousands of opponents protested at noon against
Putin at polling stations inside Russia and abroad.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Putin told reporters he regarded Russia’s election as democratic and
said the Navalny-inspired protest against him had had no effect on the
election’s outcome.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">In his first comments on his death, he also said that Navalny’s
passing had been a “sad event” and confirmed that he had been ready to
do a prisoner swap involving the opposition politician.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">When asked by a NBC, a U.S. TV network, whether his re-election was
democratic, Putin criticised the U.S. political and judicial systems.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“The whole world is laughing at what is happening (in the United States),” he said. “This is just a disaster, not a democracy.”</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“…Is it democratic to use administrative resources to attack one of
the candidates for the presidency of the United States, using the
judiciary among other things?” he asked, making an apparent reference to
four criminal cases against Republican candidate Donald Trump.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The Russian election comes just over two years since Putin triggered
the deadliest European conflict since World War Two by ordering the
invasion of Ukraine.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">War has hung over the three-day election: Ukraine has repeatedly
attacked oil refineries in Russia, shelled Russian regions and sought to
pierce Russian borders with proxy forces – a move Putin said would not
be left unpunished.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Putin said Russia might need to create a buffer zone inside Ukraine to prevent such attacks in future.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">While Putin’s re-election was not in doubt given his control over
Russia and the absence of any real challengers, the former KGB spy had
wanted to show he had the overwhelming support of Russians.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Nationwide turnout was 74.22% at 1800 GMT when polls closed, election officials said, surpassing 2018 levels of 67.5%.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">There was no independent tally of how many of Russia’s 114 million
voters took part in the opposition demonstrations, amid tight security
involving tens of thousands of police and security officials.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Reuters journalists saw an increase in the flow of voters, especially
younger people, at noon at polling stations in Moscow, St Petersburg
and Yekaterinburg, with queues of several hundred people and even
thousands.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Some said they were protesting, though there were few outward signs to distinguish them from ordinary voters.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">At least 74 people were arrested on Sunday across Russia, according to OVD-Info, a group that monitors crackdowns on dissent.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Over the previous two days, there were scattered incidents of protest
as some Russians set fire to voting booths or poured green dye into
ballot boxes. Opponents posted some pictures of ballots spoiled with
slogans insulting Putin.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">But Navalny’s death has left the opposition deprived of its most
formidable leader, and other major opposition figures are abroad, in
jail or dead.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The West casts Putin as an autocrat and a killer. Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that Putin wanted to rule forever
and that the vote had been illegitimate.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Putin portrays the war as part of a centuries-old battle with a
declining West that he says humiliated Russia after the Cold War by
encroaching on Moscow’s sphere of influence.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Russia’s election comes at what Western spy chiefs say is a crossroads for the Ukraine war and the wider West.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Support for Ukraine is tangled in U.S. domestic politics ahead of the November presidential election.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Though Kyiv recaptured territory after the invasion in 2022, Russian
forces have made gains after a failed Ukrainian counter-offensive last
year.</span></span></p>

marred by controversy this season.</span></b><p></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Brazilian midfielder Fred scored twice in the first period to give
Fenerbahce, who are second in the Super Lig two points behind rivals
Galatasaray, a halftime lead over Trabzonspor.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Macedonian midfielder Enis Bardhi curled in a free kick after 63
minutes for Trabzonspor and Trezeguet equalised with a penalty in the
78th. Fenerbahce’s
Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi scored an 87th-minute winner as
tensions ran high between the two teams, who have a history of chaotic
encounters, and with fans hurling objects onto the field.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Fenerbahce’s players celebrated in the centre of the pitch after the final whistle.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">A supporter ran onto the field and fought with Fenerbahce defender
Bright Osayi-Samuel. Video footage showed Osayi-Samuel swinging a fist
towards the fan, while Batshuayi could be seen kicking out at supporters
as security forces tried to intervene.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Dozens more then stormed the pitch, as security forces tried to shield Fenerbahce players running off the field.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Fenerbahce head coach Ismail Kartal said his players had not provoked
fans and that his team was attacked, while Trabzonspor coach Abdullah
Avci said the events at the end were upsetting.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya later said on social media platform X
that authorities had launched an investigation into the end of the
match brawl and to identify the fans who had stormed the pitch.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“Above all, sport is gentlemanship. It is never acceptable for violence to take place on football pitches,” he said.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The incident comes after a series of other controversies in the
Turkish league this season, including an attack on a referee by a club
president, the postponement of a domestic cup final in Saudi Arabia, and
several protests of refereeing decisions.</span></span></p>

Niger, following a three-day visit to renew contact with the military
junta that ousted the president and moved closer to Russia.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The statement said the government had decided to "denounce with
immediate effect" the agreement relating to U.S. military and civilian
employees of the U.S. Department of Defense inside Niger.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">It was read out Saturday evening on national television.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said Washington was
aware of the statement, and that it came after "frank discussions ...
about our concerns" with the junta's "trajectory."</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Miller said on X that the U.S. was still in touch with the junta and would provide updates "as warranted."</span></span></p>

pressure on Sunday and said he would keep on with the military campaign
against Hamas in Gaza, where aid agencies say famine is looming, while
ceasefire talks were set to resume.</span></span></b><p></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said Israel would push into
Rafah, the last relatively safe place in the tiny, crowded Gaza enclave
after more than five months of war.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“We will operate in Rafah. This will take several weeks, and it will
happen,” he said, without clarifying if he meant the assault would last
for weeks or would begin in weeks.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Israel’s allies have repeatedly urged Netanyahu not to attack Rafah,
where more than a million displaced people from other parts of the
devastated enclave have sought shelter, without a plan to protect
civilians.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in Jordan before a planned visit to
Israel, said an assault on Rafah would make regional peace “very
difficult” and that efforts now were “about ensuring we come to a
long-lasting ceasefire”.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Netanyahu hit out at the pressure from allies, saying: “Are your
memories that short? Have you so quickly forgotten October 7, the most
horrific massacre of Jews since the Holocaust? Are you so quick to deny
Israel the right to defend itself against the Hamas monsters?”.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">He has said Israel has a plan to evacuate civilians from Rafah, but aid agencies and Israel’s allies remain sceptical.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Hamas fighters killed 1,200 people and seized 253 hostages in the
Oct. 7 attack according to Israeli tallies, triggering a massive assault
on Gaza.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Israel’s air and ground campaign in the enclave has killed more than
31,600 people say health authorities in Hamas-run Gaza, driven most of
the population from their homes and brought them to the brink of famine
according to aid agencies.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">A source familiar with the truce talks in Qatar told Reuters the head
of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency would join the delegation
attending the negotiations with Qatari, Egyptian and U.S. mediators.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Hamas presented a new ceasefire proposal last week including an
exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners. Israel’s
security cabinet is to meet to discuss it before the delegation leaves.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Netanyahu has already said the proposal was based on “unrealistic
demands”, but a Palestinian official familiar with mediation efforts
said chances for a deal looked better with Hamas having given more
details on the proposed prisoner swap.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“The mediators felt positive about Hamas’ new proposal. Some in
Israel felt the group made some improvement on its previous position and
it is now in the hands of Netanyahu alone to say whether an agreement
is imminent,” said the official, who asked not to be named.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, in an apparent reference to
the negotiations, said the security establishment “is committed to
exhausting every possibility and willing to take advantage of every
possibility, including the current one, to return the hostages to their
families”.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">AID DELIVERY</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Trucks of flour have reached northern Gaza for distribution to areas
that have had no aid in four months, Palestinian media reported on
Sunday.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">A convoy of 12 trucks arrived in the north on Saturday – six in Gaza
City and six in the Jabalia refugee camp – carrying supplies to also be
distributed to the northernmost areas of Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun,
the media and residents said.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The Hamas-linked Home Front media outlet reported that the aid was
distributed by the “Popular Committees”, a group that includes leaders
of powerful clans in Gaza. A Hamas source said the route was secured by
Hamas security personnel.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Aid agencies have warned that pockets of Gaza already face famine,
with hospitals in the north reporting children dying of malnutrition and
dehydration.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">An Israeli strike overnight killed 12 people in one house in Deir

ministry said, among 92 people it said had been killed in the previous

"We should think about our brain as well as our body health and take good care of it," said Neurologist Prof. Dr. Derya Uludüz listed the habits that negatively affect the brain in daily life and therefore should be abandoned as follows:<br /><br /><b>SLEEP LESS</b><br />Sleep is the most important need for life. Sleeping less than 7 hours a day reduces brain activity. When we don't get enough sleep, our brain's appetite increases and we constantly crave sugary foods. When you are sleep deprived, your metabolism slows down the next day. We gain weight. The risk of learning disabilities, memory problems, mental problems, chronic diseases, hypertension and diabetes increases. Sleeping less than 6 hours a day increases the risk of stroke and heart attack 4 times compared to normal people. Children who cannot sleep well at night become more hyperactive, irritable and careless during the day.<br /><br /><b>INACTIVITY</b><br />A sedentary life can lead to health problems such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes. These health problems can also damage your brain and increase your risk of dementia. The most important thing we need to do to improve your brain is physical activity. For example, walking strengthens thinking ability. It makes us happier and more energetic by producing endorphin and serotonin hormones. It increases blood flow to the brain by supporting the heart's pumping of blood to the body. This positively affects the general functions of the brain. Sports activities that allow for a high heart rate play a role in neurogenesis, that is, the formation of new brain cells in the brain.<br /><br /><b>THINKING NEGATIVELY</b><br />Being constantly stressed and anxious harms your mental health. This situation; It can lead to problems such as depression, anxiety and even dementia. Scientific research shows that people who think negatively have more amyloid and tau accumulation in their brains. This accumulation is an important reason that increases the risk of Alzheimer's.<br /><br /><b>UNHEALTHY DIET</b><br />If you constantly eat unhealthy foods such as fast food, your brain will also be damaged. Too much sweets or high-glycemic foods also negatively impact brain health. Also, the more fat we have in our body, the worse it is for your brain. Obesity increases the risk of dementia and especially Alzheimer's. To protect the brain, you should consume foods rich in protein, vitamin B, vitamin D and Omega 3. Especially if you have a diet deficient in Omega-3 fatty acids, you will feel older and tired than you are.<br /><br /><b>CONSUMING TOO MUCH TEA AND COFFEE</b><br />Consuming 1-2 cups of coffee or tea a day has a positive effect on cognitive functions. However, too much caffeine is also harmful. Consuming more than 300 mg of caffeine per day begins to damage your brain. 1 glass of medium-strength tea contains 50 mg of caffeine, and 1 glass of coffee contains 75 mg of caffeine. While cognitive ability increases in those who drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day, the opposite effect occurs in those who drink more than 3 cups. This is a "J-shaped" mechanism in scientific terms. 1-2 cups of coffee a day has a positive effect on memory, and when more than 3 cups are consumed, the risk of forgetfulness begins. It negatively affects your sleep by tricking the brain into thinking it doesn't need sleep.<br /><br /><b>NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER<br /></b>70-80 percent of our brain consists of water. Moreover, water carries the necessary substances to the brain for it to work. Therefore, when we drink enough water, our brain works better.<br /><br /><b>CIGARETTE</b><br />Many toxins in cigarette smoke, especially the formaldehyde in its smoke, kill brain cells. The most important reason why brain cells are damaged in smokers is the decrease in oxygen capacity and the development of oxidative stress, which causes damage to the brain. Both active and former smokers are at high risk for Alzheimer's.<br /><br /><b>ALCOHOL</b><br />It damages the liver, making it difficult for you to remove toxins from the body. Toxins accumulated in the body damage the brain and cause rapid aging. Frequent alcohol use (3 or more drinks per week) causes brain shrinkage. In particular, the regions related to planning, calculation, memory and the regions that control emotions shrink. Complaints of forgetfulness and quick anger begin.<br /><br /><b>LISTENING TO LOUD MUSIC</b><br />Listening to music is good for the brain, but it can cause hearing loss when listened to at high volume. This situation also poses a risk for the brain. Because scientific research shows that people with hearing loss are more likely to develop Alzheimer's.<br /><br /><b>EXCESSIVE USE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING</b><br />Lately, we all have smartphones and computers in our hands. We spend our day with them. However, this situation causes attention problems, difficulty in face-to-face social communication, and negative effects on co-worker relationships.</span></span><br /><p></p>Olomoinfohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651901067828826891noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316005999455363781.post-11704517862926523422024-03-14T19:00:00.001+02:002024-03-14T19:00:00.140+02:00Eyes turns to ‘MP’ TRNC member of parliament over fake diploma scandal<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;"><b></b></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrdxVmOLGMN7ckDZ4-25crXXdvWj9WzDpC1Y4JORl5gscSscS57fDOhQ_FBFFATT1_v2b9IfJXFqICUdvevkWF7wGjTSENHivFiw0NFIvjbZH9ie0a4gbS3SdajyUr3YoosNXvRteoN1F8j-NTXvi6d_0Ui-8ULBp_VcwXXfNhdx2XoNISlx1X0oLaLtU/s971/v2meclsss_1702894698.webp" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="551" data-original-width="971" height="364" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrdxVmOLGMN7ckDZ4-25crXXdvWj9WzDpC1Y4JORl5gscSscS57fDOhQ_FBFFATT1_v2b9IfJXFqICUdvevkWF7wGjTSENHivFiw0NFIvjbZH9ie0a4gbS3SdajyUr3YoosNXvRteoN1F8j-NTXvi6d_0Ui-8ULBp_VcwXXfNhdx2XoNISlx1X0oLaLtU/w640-h364/v2meclsss_1702894698.webp" width="640" /></a></b></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"><b><span style="font-family: times;">Attention were turned to a member of TRNC parliament on Monday as the scandal engulfing the north Cyprus’s education sector regarding “fake diplomas” rumbled on. <br /></span></b></span><p></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The ‘MP’ in question is ruling coalition party UBP ‘MP’ Emrah
Yesilirmak, with rumours surrounding the authenticity of the degree in
business administration he obtained from the Cyprus Health and Social
Sciences University (KSTU) having first surfaced in February.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">They were brought back onto the agenda on Monday, with opposition
party CTP Leader Tufan Erhurman speaking in ‘parliament’ about the
matter of immunity from criminal proceedings which is granted to ‘MPs’
in the north.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">‘MPs’ in north Cyprus are granted immunity from criminal proceedings
by article 84 of the ‘constitution’, with limited exceptions. Those
exceptions include when an ‘MP’ is caught “in flagrante delicto”,
another word for being caught in the act of committing a crime, or if
the crime in question carries a heavier sentence than five years in
prison.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">However, Erhurman said, “there is nothing in the law which says a matter cannot be investigated.”</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“The police can take a statement and investigate a case. Legislative
immunity does not prevent this. If there is an allegation of a crime and
the police take the file to the prosecutor, it will be investigated,
and if [an ‘MP’] is convicted, they will be punished at the end of their
term,” he said.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">He added, “there is no such thing as immunity from investigation,”
and noted that the north’s chief public prosecutor’s office can request
that immunity be lifted.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Fuel was added to the flames by former member of parliament Kudret Ozersay who said Yesilirmak had claimed he would voluntarily go and give a
statement to the police regarding the matter but had since done nothing
about it.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">He also agreed with Erhurman’s conclusion on article 84 of the ‘constitution’, saying “could he avoid an investigation by this? Or can he delay it? No.
Because even if he does not give a statement or an explanation to the
police, relying on his community, the police have the authority to send
it to the chief public prosecutor’s office anyway.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“Moreover, since the police asked him for an explanation, it means there must be tangible evidence on the file!”</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">He also alluded to potential police investigations regarding other
sitting ‘MPs’ from all three parties in the TRNC’s ruling coalition,
the UBP, the DP, and the YDP.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Elsewhere on Monday, the case regarding the Cyprus Massachusetts Centre of Innovation returned to court.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The college was allegedly linked to a large criminal network, with a
Pakistani national who had been working as an agent for the organisation
having been arrested last week for receiving €10,000 in exchange for
creating a forged student visa.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Police on Monday said in court they had taken statements from 20
students at the college, while the four suspects who appeared in court on Friday all appeared for a second time.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The accountant was released without charge, while its secretary was
released on bail as police believe he had no link to the criminal
activities going on at the company but may still be criminally liable
due to his elevated position within it.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The college’s manager, deputy manager, and the agent were all remanded for four days. An arrest warrant has been put out for the company’s director, who is believed to be abroad.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Meanwhile, it was announced that the north’s higher education
accreditation authority (Yodak)’s deputy chairman Hasan Amca would take
charge of the authority while criminal proceedings are being taken
against its chairman Turgay Avci.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Avci and former Yodak board member Mehmet Hasguler were both arrested on Friday, accused of taking under-the-table payments while the KSTU was applying for Yodak accreditation.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">They were both charged on Saturday

‘cash-for-care jobs’ scandal, potentially jeopardizing the well-being of
vulnerable patients in the UK.</b></span></div>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The investigation sheds light on the exploitation of Home Office
loopholes, with unqualified migrants reportedly providing care for
elderly residents as rogue operators charge exorbitant fees of up to
£20,000, promising a ‘100% success rate’ in obtaining work visas.</span></span></p>
<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b style="font-family: times;">Systematic Exploitation Unveiled</b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The investigation exposed a systematic exploitation of Home Office
loopholes, where untrained and overworked staff, often lacking
proficiency in English, are entrusted with the care of elderly
residents.</span></span></div><div class="493awcbT" style="border-width: 0px; clear: both; float: left; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 100%;"><center>

</center></div>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">This includes charging hefty ‘work finder fees’ to facilitate the
issuance of work visas, and raising concerns about the qualifications
and capabilities of the caregivers.</span></span></p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;"><b>Widespread Abuse and Record Vacancies</b></span></span><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">A watchdog has sounded the alarm over ‘widespread abuse’ in the system, pointing to vulnerabilities since early 2022.</span></span></div>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The surge in foreign workers comes in response to record vacancies in
the adult social care sector, reaching an unprecedented 164,000 in
2021/22. The relaxation of immigration rules saw a staggering 349%
increase in care worker visas, with significant numbers originating from
India, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe.</span></span></p>
<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b style="font-family: times;">Shady Practices and Urgent Calls for Action</b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The investigation uncovered alarming practices, including firms
deceiving the Home Office, applicants paying in cash for jobs, and
migrants being treated as ‘slaves,’ afraid to voice concerns for fear of
job loss. Campaigners are urgently calling on the Home Office to
implement rigorous checks on foreign workers, emphasizing the need to
protect patients and prevent the exploitation of those entrusted with
caregiving responsibilities.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b style="font-family: times;">Reform and Safeguarding Vulnerable Patients</b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The revelations underscore the pressing need for comprehensive
reforms to address the vulnerabilities in the system. Ensuring that
caregivers possess the necessary qualifications and training is
paramount to safeguarding the well-being of vulnerable patients. The
scandal highlights the urgency of regulatory measures to curb
exploitative practices and uphold the standards of care in the UK’s
healthcare sector.</span></span></div>

fall by 1.6 years during the first two years of the pandemic, a more
dramatic decline than previously thought, a major study said Tuesday.</span></span></b></div><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">This marked a sharp reversal during a decades-long rise in global
life expectancy, according to hundreds of researchers sifting through
data for the US-based Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation
(IHME).</span></span></p><div class="97JxWrwH" style="border-width: 0px; clear: both; float: left; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 100%;"><center>

</center></div>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">“For adults worldwide, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a more profound
impact than any event seen in half a century, including conflicts and
natural disasters,” said Austin Schumacher, an IHME researcher and lead
author of the study published in The Lancet journal.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">During
2020-2021, life expectancy declined in 84 percent of the 204 countries
and territories analysed, “demonstrating the devastating potential
impacts” of new viruses, he said in a statement.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">The rate of death for people over 15 rose by 22 percent for men and
17 percent for women during this time, the researchers estimated.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Mexico City, Peru and Bolivia were some of the places were life expectancy fell the most.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">But there was some good news in the updated estimates of the IHME’s landmark Global Burden of Disease study.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">Half
a million fewer children under the age of five died in 2021 compared to
2019, continuing a long-term decline in child mortality.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: times;">IHME researcher Hmwe Hmwe Kyu hailed this “incredible progress,”
saying the world should now focus on “the next pandemic and addressing
the vast disparities in health across countries”.</span></span></p><p></p>Olomoinfohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651901067828826891noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316005999455363781.post-32250773683957927172024-03-13T21:29:00.002+02:002024-03-13T21:29:40.319+02:00TRNC increases fuel price<p><span style="font-family: times;
