Lucky driver escapes dangerous accident along Lefkosa-Girne highway

Uttuman Adewale has everything to thank God for, for narrowly escaping death after he lost control of the car he was driving and hit an electric pole on the side of the Girne-Lefkosa road on Sunday morning.

Adewale, was driving from Girne to Lefkosa on the  Lefkosa-Girne highway at about 10.45 am on Sunday when he lost control of the car, steering the car off the road and into an electric pole at the side of the road. 

Following the crash, the car burst into flames while the electric pole got damaged.

Fire crew arrived at the scene of the accident and helped put off the fire. 

According to police report, the accident happened between 10am and 10:45 am today between the 4th and 5th kilometer of the Nicosia-Girne highway.
 
The report added that the 23-year-old driver of the car made a careless left turn in a curvy path when he lost control of the car.

Adewale who was lucky to escape the incident, was slightly injured and taken to the Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital in Gonyeli.

The road was briefly closed to traffic while authorities called Cyprus Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) to cut off the line.
