One on One on Olomoinfo Blog: Meet Mr Muhammed Danladi Garba

Welcome to another edition of One on One on Olomoinfo Blog. Today we have the opportunity to meet a very influential Cyprus based Nigerian academician and sports man who is doing a great work with what he knows how to do best and he's got a whole lot of things to share with us on his latest achievement and award.

-Can we meet you sir?

My name is Muhammed Danladi Garba. I was born in Jos, Plateau, Nigeria in 1973. I received my Bachelor of Science Education in Electrical and Electronics from the prestigious University of Maiduguri in Nigeria in 1995, I passed out with a second class upper division, I am married with six children. My wife is a graduate from University of Jos. She studied Microbiology and she is a member of NISLT. My first child is also in University of Jos, studying Dental Surgery and others are in secondary school, primary and nursery school.

-What is your affiliation? 

Presently, I am a lecturer with Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero. I am also a licensed football coach and players’ agent. I have a diploma in Football Coach from the Nigeria Institute for Sports (NIS) and also Certificates in Football Coaching from Confederation of African Football (CAF). I’m currently waiting for my licence and Players’ agent certificate from Sport Management World Wide (SMWW) from Oregon, USA.

-As a PHD candidate, what is your major? 

I am a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and a fellow Directorate of Education (IASR) with life time membership of International  Agency for Standard air Ratings. I have done 4 publications.

-You recently won an award at the World Academic Championship-2017 in Educational Studies where you were honored by the International Agency for Standards and Ratings honored for great scientific contribution. Tell us about this mile stone achievement. 

I achieved this award by God’s divine and with the help of guardian and friend, Mr. Olusola O. Bamisile who work tireless to see this research work a success and the study was made under the supervision of the Vice Rector of Cyprus International University, Prof. Dr. Serkan Abbasoglu, and the head of the department of Mechanical Engineering at Cyprus International University, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Dagabasi, and lastly, my good friend, Humphrey Adun who worked tirelessly.

-What major challenge did you face when writing the research article? 

Actually, there were no major challenges during the research write-ups because my guardian, Mr. Olusola O. Bamisile was there putting everything in the right place.

-And what is your greatest motivation? 

My greatest motivation is working with experts in the field of Research writing like – Olusola O. Bamisile, Humphrey Adun, Beki-Roglu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Serkan, Dr. Nat, Dr. Kusaf and the condusive environment of Cyprus International University which is good for research, projects and thesis and the qualified lecturers at disposal.

-Your article is winner among 5772 nominations from 62 countries, screened for the World Academic Championship- 2017 in Educational Studies… How do you feel about this? 

I felt delighted and elated. I thank the almighty for these achievements.

- Now that you are among World's 500 Most Influential Experts in Educational Studies for the Year 2017 on Earth, how do you wish to lend your influence to younger generation and the academic world? 

Now with this new development and couple some of the experiences I had at CIU. I will like to use this opportunity to introduce the method of teaching and learning to the younger generation especially my students back home how to use the private social media and the new technological equipment for learning. I will encourage my students and the younger generation to always learn how to publish papers, for research articles, thesis and projects like Edmodo, clicker 7, etc.

-What academic projects are you currently involved in or plan to initiate in the near future? 

My academic project plan currently is to initiate how to teach university students the use of educational, technological tools in teaching and learning in universities like the clicker 7, Edmodo, e.t.c.

-How do you intend to influence Nigeria and the world at large with your studies and project? 

By setting up a non-governmental organization to work and improve the lives of Nigerians and the word in general also to influence key decisions makers like politicians, bureaucrats, parliamentary committees to invest and contribute towards educational studies. Finally, I will use media houses and journalist like you to improve and influence Nigerian government and the world at large.

-Apart from being a PHD candidate, what else are you involved in? 

Apart from education - I am a licenced football coach both in Nigerian and Africa. I have a diploma in football coaching from National Institute for Sport (NIS), Lagos, and Confederation of African Football Licenced C and B (CAF licenced C and B), Also, I am a player agent with a certificate from the Sports Management World Wide (SMWW), Portland, Oregon, USA.

-How are you able to manage the two at the same time? 

It is very difficult because I always remember what my late father use to tell me “you cannot chew two palms at the same time”. But with discipline, determination and dedication, you can manage the two at the same time.

-What is your advice for those who are trying to choose a career path but are confused on a choice? 

For those that are trying to choose a career path but are confused on a choice _ they should seek professional advice from counselling and guidance. They should also work hard and leave the rest to God to decide.
