Smoking in public enclosed areas banned in North Cyprus

The North Cyprus health ministry has announced it will from now on begin cigarette inspections in all enclosed public areas including bars, restaurants, cafes, bars and casinos.

According to the TRNC Health Minister, Filiz Besim, the Primary Health Care Department will hence forth ban smoking in closed areas.

The Ministry of Health Basic Health Services Department has the authority to enforce the Act on the Prevention and Control of Tobacco Products Loss and Health the Minister stated.

The areas under observation includes; restaurants, cafeterias, buffets, coffee houses, patisseries and similar establishments. Casino, bar, disco and nightclubs will be supervised in accordance with the law in this law.

The minister urged citizens to comply with the directives and if anyone is found disobeying the order, such a person should be reported to by sending a message to the Ministry of Health web site or by contacting the Basic Health Services Department personally.
