33 refugees arrested after entering south Cyprus through the north

About 33 refugees including 25 men, two women and six children were found walking between the villages of Limnitis and Pyrgos near the buffer zone between south and north Cyprus after entering south Cyprus through north Cyprus on Sunday.

According to report by Greek Cypriot daily, Cyprus News Agency, the people reached the area by boat from Turkey.

They were first spotted by a coast guard vessel in international waters and were arrested after they got off.

They are believed to have paid €3,200 each to be transported to Cyprus from Turkey.
