Turkey will never make any concessions on its interest in Cyprus - Turkey’s vice President

Turkey will never make any concessions on its interest in Cyprus or the Aegean said Turkey’s vice President Fuat Oktay.

Fuat made the comment regarding Cyprus and the natural gas drilling efforts while speaking during budgetary discussions at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Tuesday.

According to him, Ankara would not make “the slightest” compromise regarding its hydrocarbon interests around Cyprus, the Aegean Sea or the Eastern Mediterranean.

He noted that the European Union has spoilt Greece and South Cyprus, and said that Turkey would “by no means” tolerate any measures by Greece or South Cyprus against Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

We are showing our determination on this issue through diplomatic means, our military strength and through our energy policies, he said.
