Zimbabwe student beats girlfriend because she refused to give him money for alcohol

A Zimbabwean student has been arrested and detained by a Lefkosa court for allegedly beating his girlfriend on the ground that she did not give him money to buy alcohol at a gas station in Haspolat.

According to report by Turkish Cypriot media, Yeniduzen, the accused identified only as D.K furiously hit his girlfriend, D.M.M on her cheek because she refused to give him money to buy drink at Fina super market located at Kpet filling station near CIU in Haspolat at about 8:30pm on Wednesday, March 13.

He allegedly dragged her by her hair on the ground and stroked her seriously, the website reported.

Police obtained report of the assault from the Lefkosa State Hospital.

The student, who is a law student at the Near East University rejected the allegation and apologized for his actions. 

He was banned from traveling abroad by the court and his traveling document seized.

The courted ordered him to report to the police station at least once a week.

He was granted bail of 80,000TL with a TRNC citizen as surety but was sent to prison for a period not exceeding one month until trial since he couldn't meet the bail condition.
