71-year-old professor at EMU, Famagusta arrested and suspended for sexually harassing a female student
A 71-year-old professor at the Eastern Mediterranean University, in Famagusta, North Cyprus has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing a female student.
The 71-year-old Professor of the Music department allegedly assaulted and sexually harassed a female student who went to his office to seek information, report Turkish Cypriot media, Kibris.
According to the claim, the accused allegedly kissed the student.
The incident happened on Thursday, last week. He was arrested upon the student's complaint and taken to court on Friday.
He was detained for 3 days on court order.
Meanwhile, the Rectorate of EMU on Saturday took a decision to suspend him pending the conclusion of his case for sexual assault and harassment in court.
The university pledged to offer the necessary support
