Student assault girlfriend with iron rod on the street of Lefkosa, girl stabs him

A student has been detained for allegedly beating and wounding his girlfriend on the street of Lefkosa. 

The accused committed the crime on Sunday, August, 18 at his apartment in Hamitköy, Lefkosa.

The accused reportedly punched his girlfriend on the right eye, dragged her hair and then hit her with a rod following a verbal argument between the two.

He was arrested and brought to a court in Lefkosa on Monday, August, 19 on charges of assaulting and for inflicting serious injury on someone.

Police prosecutor told the court that the assault began at about 5:00am on Sunday in the bedroom and then spilled onto the street.

Police said he hit her with a 91 cm and 60 cm long construction iron and wounded her with it.

In retaliation, she stabbed the boy with a knife on the shoulder.

She was arrested and brought to court on Monday. 

The boy who is a active student in the country was banned from leaving the country, asked to deposit the sum of 5,000 Turkish Lira as guarantee and provide a TRNC citizen that will stand for him and bail him.
