The setting ablaze of the MTN office in the ancient city took place Tuesday night, about 9pm, SaharaReporters gathered.

The MTN office is located in Bodija.

The attack appeared to be a reprisal following recent Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

Nigerian shops and stores were looted in the Southern African country.

Shoprite, a departmental store, in Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo had also been targeted as reprisals.

MTN, a telecommunications company is owned by South Africans.
