Spraying against coronavirus at Ercan Airport

The TRNC Civil Defense Organization teams were seen spraying the arrival terminal at the Ercan airport on Tuesday against the coronavirus (Covid-19).

The exercise is coordinated by the TRNC Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

According to report, spraying took place in all parts of the airport terminal.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, the Council of Ministers increased the measures to be implemented within the framework of air transportation due to the fact that there are coronavirus cases in the country.

On the other hand, the Council of Ministers decided to close the Ercan Airport only to charter flights departing from Italy, Germany and France until April 1, 2020.

The Council of Ministers did not impose any restrictions on scheduled flights to Ercan Airport and charter flights outside the specified countries.

New arrivals are required to fill in the Ministry of Health forms at all entry port in the country.Any one who refuse to fill the form will not be allowed into the country.

All those entering the north through the crossings will also undergo screening before entry, a written statement issued after the meeting read.

A decision has also been taken to set up a crisis desk and to hold an emergency meeting with Turkish officials today to discuss assistance from Turkey which might be required in the event of a pandemic.
Other measures include extending the capacity of existing quarantine facilities and setting up new quarantine and observation facilities in different areas if the need arises.

The cabinet also urged all TRNC citizens to avoid crossing over to the south or to travel abroad unless necessary.
