Violate curfew and pay 382 Turkish Lira

Anyone who violates the government ban on movement in north Cyprus will be made to pay 382 Turkish Lira or go to jail.

This was made known by TRNC Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay on Tuesday.

The fine to be applied to those who do not comply with the curfew will be 10% of the minimum wage, (382 TL), he said.

382 TL (€55) is 10% of the minimum wage in north Cyprus. Offenders could also face up to one year in prison.

TRNC authorities on Sunday announced a ban on movement in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country. 

The 14-day ban only allow people to go to supermarket, pharmacy, bank, doctors’ appointments and petrol stations.
