North Cyprus extends stay at home order till April, 30

The TRNC government on Thursday extended the closure of all public-sector offices, for the exception of essential services, until the end of April.
This was made known in a statement by the TRNC Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay following a meeting by the council of Ministers on Thursday. 

Schools in the island will also be on holiday until April 30. However, public employees can be recalled by their superior.

The Ministers decided to keep all public offices, for the exception of essential services, closed until April 30.


He added that all schools, preschools, etudes and other educational institutions would also remain closed until April 30.

The partial and night-time curfews, as well as the ban of movement between the six districts, have also been extended for another week until April 17, Özersay said.

Özersay also announced that the full curfew in the Karpaz area will continue but the quarantine zone has now been narrowed down to Yenierenköy, Sipahi and Dipkarpaz.

The decisions are as follows;
  • The public holiday decision was extended until April 30.
  • In addition, all schools, kindergartens and similar educational institutions will be holidays until April 30.
  • The partial curfew decision was extended by 1 week, and the full curfew applied at night was extended by 1 week until 17 April.
  • Intercity restrictions were extended until April 17.
  • The full curfew will continue in Erenköy, Sipahi and Dipkarpaz in Karpaz Region. Entrance and exit of these three places will be under police control. Apart from these places, curfew in other parts of the country will continue.
  • By 30 April, the passage of LAND, SEA, LAND will be open only to citizens.
  • The Ministry of Health will conduct a study and publish a circular to determine general procedures. With this circular, transactions can be made in banks, GSM companies' payment points, public institutions that are open and general procedures will be determined by the Ministry of Health.
  • Despite not meeting the scholarship criteria, students abroad will receive 1700 TL support each month.
  • The ministry of economy and energy and the scientific council and healthcare professionals will come together. If certain private sector institutions are to be opened at the end of 1 week, we decided to make decisions by the ministry of health, economic and science boards together.
