TRNC introduces new online system to detect Covid-19 patients

Doctors in the private sector will be able to inform the health ministry online in the event one of their patients shows symptoms of Covid-19.

It was announced by the TRNC Health Ministry on Monday.

The latest health practice is seen as an important development in terms of detecting and diagnosing possible patients with coronavirus.

According to a statement issued by the health ministry, the system will inform doctors whether patients referred to the fever and cough outpatient clinics have sought medical attention.

Doctors will also be able to follow up on patients, their final diagnosis and stage of treatment.

The new practice will allow the health ministry to track the number of patients with fever, determine whether there is a spike in such cases and intervene swiftly and timely before potential patients come into contact with the public.

The statement reminded that all doctors who will have access to the system have a legal obligation within the framework of the Contagious Diseases Law to report and inform the health ministry of all suspicious cases.

The public is also obligated to inform the health ministry officials of suspicious cases. Individuals may be asked to check-in to the nearest outpatient clinic if the symptoms match criteria for Covid-19, the statement added.
