Public Transport strike and demonstration continue on Monday

The industrial action launched by the Turkish Cypriot Public Vehicles Operators Association (Kar-Is) in Lefkosa will continue on Monday.

The spokesperson for the association Mr. Zekai Night, answering the questions of the journalist, said the action will continue until the government makes a clear decision about the sector.

Indicating that the transportation sector is one of the most affected sectors in the pandemic process, he noted that the government believes that they can provide certain privileges to this sector by taking this into consideration.

He stated that they, as Kar-İş, have taken action using their democratic rights, they do not want to disturb anyone, but they want to solve problems they have so that the public transportation sector can survive this process without any damage.  

Expressing that it will be, 70 percent of the sector; She explained that she was not in a position to work because there were no foreign workers, students and tourists, and the rest had difficulties in finding customers. 

She stated that they expect all of them to make clear decisions for the future of the industry, and that the action was done for the benefit of society as Kar-İş, he said.
