Students will not be required to pay for them to be quarantined upon arrival in TRNC

Students arriving in the TRNC in June will not be required to cover the cost of their accommodation during their 14-day mandatory quarantine.

Tatar made the comment in an interview on Wednesday.

He said that the universities will be handling all quarantine requirements themselves for students returning in June and that hopefully there would be no need for anyone arriving in July to be placed under quarantine. Tatar said that they perceived students that studied in the TRNC as their own children.

The government were faced with series of criticism last week after it announced that workers and students coming into the country in June will need to pay to be quarantined. According to him, it was a misunderstanding as the government would not demand for money for students to be quarantined.

It is not in me to ask for money to isolate our young people. I think there was a misunderstanding there. It was not discussed in the Cabinet this way. Universities will surely handle this issue within themselves. Our universities have already made their own statements. We do not distinguish our children who will come for education from our own children, he said.

He also explained that the Ministries of Health and Tourism Ministries of Turkey and the TRNC are working on the establishment of a new screening system, without quarantine.

We achieved a success. But one day these doors will open, and flights will begin. We cannot continue on our own. We will continue to live with the individual measures of our people, taking into account the developments in the world, and applying new methods. Everyone will be careful. We evaluate them. The government will take a decision. I hope it won't take too long. A new method.
Visitors will be subjected to a PCR test, followed by where to go and other information. Although it is not clear at the time of the test, if there is a symptom within 2-3 days it is found immediately. We have to go through these processes. We are in a state of normalization, he said.
