Student assaults girlfriend in Lefkosa because she tried to leave him

A student who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend because she wanted to leave him has been sent to prison for three days.

The incident happened in Lefkosa on Monday, August 3. The accused is said to have entered his girlfriend's house in Lefkosa and assaulted her in the balcony of her apartment for trying to leave him.

He was arrested and taken to a court in Lefkosa on charges of force entry and assault.

Police officer, Alparslan Yavuz, who testified to the incident in court said the accused refused to leave the girl's apartment at about Sunday 12 midnight. He then climbed the balcony of her apartment, broke her property and slapped her in the face with two hands.

Police indicated that the suspect may have entered the girlfriend's apartment with a key she gave him.

He was arrested on the same day in line with a pending order obtained from the Lefkosa Accident Court.  

Police said investigation into the matter has just begun and that his status in the country will be investigated too.

The police demanded that the suspect be detained for 3 days in order to conduct the investigation safely.
