Ten new cases of coronavirus reported in North Cyprus on Saturday

10 new cases of covid-19 were detected in Northern Cyprus on Saturday which brings the total number of cases there so far to 206.

TRNC Minister of Health Ali Pilli in an announcement stated that 2,012 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours and 10 positive cases recorded.

Pilli said that three of the positive cases came to the TRNC by air, five by sea and two other cases were contacts of previously detected cases.

They have started receiving treatment at the State Hospital Quarantine Service in Lefkosa. 

One person was discharged from the hospital after completing treatment.

The Minister stated that there are some people who came to the TRNC from abroad and whose test results were positive. They were made to sign a letter of undertaking but did not wait until the test results came out and did not isolate themselves and by so doing violated the law. Legal action was taken against these people.

He pointed out that strict inspections have been initiated in entertainment venues and restaurants operating in open air or indoor areas. He emphasized that it is essential to keep the records of people coming especially at the entrance of the venue, and that legal actions will be taken against businesses that do not comply with the rules. 
 
Minister Pilli reminded that the cases are on the rise, so social distance and hygiene rules are of great importance, and we need to take precautions especially in crowded places.
