Thursday is public holiday in North Cyprus and Turkey to mark Turkey national day

The proclamation of the Republic of Turkey will be celebrated on Thursday, October, 29 with various ceremonies in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus alongside Turkey. 

Celebrations to mark the 97th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey will kick off today with a speech by the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri.

A 21-gun salute will also be fired to mark the occasion. T

he first ceremony of the day will take place in the capital Lefkoşa in front of the Atatürk monument where wreaths will be laid, a minute’s silence will be observed and the flags will be raised to the national anthem. 

Similar events will take place in all the other major cities in the TRNC. 

The Police General Directorate has also announced that due to band concerts and walks that will take place on the 29th of October roads where the walks will be realized will be closed an hour prior to the events taking place until the end of the ceremony.
