Work Permit Regulation for Foreigners in TRNC amended

The TRNC Ministry of Labor and Social Security has announced that people who are in the TRNC with a valid residence permit or valid legal visa period will be exempted from pre-permission until February 28.

The statement made by the Ministry is as follows: 

Due to the pandemic, within the scope of the amendment made in the Regulation on Work Permits for Foreigners; Persons who are in the TRNC with a valid residence permit or valid legal visa period will be exempted from pre-permit until February 28. 

Due to the increase in the number of cases due to the Covid 19 outbreak, within the framework of the measures taken by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Regulation on Work Permits of Foreigners was amended for employees who entered the TRNC and were unable to leave the country. 

Within the scope of the amendment made to the 21st paragraph of Article 30 of the Regulation on Work Permits of Foreigners as follows: 

- Persons who stay in the TRNC with a residence permit but are outside the scope of paragraphs 1, 2 and 5 of Article 30 of the Articles of Association, 

- Persons who worked less than 6 months in the last workplace, whose work permit was canceled and whose legal visa period of 40 days after the cancellation has not expired, 

- Those who graduated from the school with a student immigration permit and / or dismissed from the school and have not expired the legal 60-day visa period after disconnection, 

- Persons who entered the Ministry with a TRNC identity card and who have not expired their legal visa before the date of the 2020 Foreigners and Immigration Ordinance, within the scope of the relevant order, 

- Those who entered the TRNC with a passport and whose legal period has not expired. The date of his application to the Labor Office will be accepted by the Ministry as the starting date, and the transactions will be exempted from the preliminary permit until February 28, 2021.
