Six people broke into apartment in Lefkosa, rob and assaults students

Turkish Cypriot police arrested five people last week and searching for a sixth person for allegedly breaking into an apartment in Lefkosa and assaulting another.

According to police report, six people between the ages of 25-35 reportedly broke into an apartment in Lefkosa, battered and robbed the apartment. 

The incident happened at about 11:00pm on Thursday, February, 25.

Five of them were later identified and arrested by the police while search is on going for the sixth person.

Three occupants of the apartment were assaulted and injured in the incident while a Nigerian among them was stabbed in his right thigh with a knife and hit on the head with the living room television.

Police report said the assailants of which two are Nigerians, one a Zimbabwean, and two Turkish citizens, took from the apartment, 7 mobile phones, personal travel documents and an amount of money that could not be determined at the time of the report. 

They were taken to a court in Lefkosa on Saturday on charges of armed robbery, opening of house at night, injury, deliberate damage and serious assault.
