Four injured in accident in Famagusta, driver flee scene of accident

Four people are currently receiving treatment in the hospital after they were injured in an accident that happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Famagusta.

The incident happened at about 2:30am on Sunday morning in Sakarya Region, Famagusta. One of the four people involved in the incident was seriously injured.

According to police statement, a 31-year-old driver was driving carelessly towards the south direction of the road when he crashed onto a garbage truck in front of it and hit a 48-year-old man standing in the back of the garbage truck.

Police said the driver of the car, who is a foreigner in the country, fled the scene of the accident.

Three other passengers in the car, who are all African, were also injured in the accident. They were taken to the Famagusta State Hospital for medical attention. 

The man behind the truck was seriously injured and had a broken leg. He was taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Police said it is searching for the driver of the vehicle.
