Two people in hot water for dealing in drugs in North Cyprus

Two suspects, dealing in drugs sales were nabbed by Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention team in an operation in Lefkosa on Thursday.

The two suspects, a male and a female both 26 years old and from a French speaking country were identified and arrested in a drug operation carried out in Lefkosa at about 6:00pm on Thursday. Police said it found about 56 grams of drugs ready for sale hidden in the car. 

They were taken to court on Friday on charges of “Importing Illegal Drugs (Cannabis), drug saving and sales. 

Police said 12,020 Turkish Liras, 660 Dollars and 70 Euros in cash, which were determined to be obtained from the sale of narcotic drugs were found on them. They were taken as evidence. 

In a search conducted at their residence, sensitive scales believed to contain drug residues, 4,200 TL and foil papers were found and also taken as evidence. 

Police said it was determined that one of the suspect bought and sold 84 grams of drugs in Haspolat for 1,950 Euros through a wanted person in the last month.  

The suspect imported the drugs through a wanted person and sold them together with the second suspect.

Police stated that the suspects gave their statements voluntarily.

They were ordered to remain in police custody for 3 days by the court for investigation purposes.
