17 people arrested for human trafficking while crossing to south Cyprus illegally

17 people are bring tried in the TRNC for human trafficking while attempting to enter southern Cyprus illegally.

The 17 people were arrested by the police while being 'smuggled' to the south of the island in three vehicles in Akıncılar (Luricina) on Saturday, December, 11 while violating a military forbidden zone in the process.

The suspects could not be taken to court because their Covid-19 PCR test results were not available.

Police stated that 11 of the suspects violated the military forbidden zone.

The police stated that on the same day, another suspect was seen as a suspect and arrested.

They were detained for 3 days on court order and will perform PCR test and placed in a quarantine hotel.
