Greek Cypriot tried to hang a Greek flag in Famagusta

A Greek Cypriot who tried to hang a Greek flag on the memorial circle, where the Victory Monument is located in Famagusta, in an act of provocation was caught.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place around 12:00pm on Thursday. 

The 44-year-old man who had crossed over to the TRNC as a tourist was driving around Famagusta when he stopped in front of the roundabout. He was spotted by passers-by as he was draping a Greek flag around a statue on the roundabout.

Seeing the reaction of Turkish Cypriots who tried to intervene, he left the flag and tried to flee the scene with his car but was prevented by doing so.

He was caught after the citizens reported to the police and was interrogated at the Famagusta Police Department.
