Public transport operators in TRNC down tools to protest hike in fuel prices

At the moment, all public transport across the TRNC has been grounded in protest against the increase in fuel prices.

The Public Vehicles Operators Association (Kar-İş ) and Cyprus Turkish Public Transport Association (KTTTB) on Monday, March, 14, stopped public transportation services across the TRNC to protest the heavy increases in fuel prices.

Union members were seen gathering at the terminal in Lefkosa to demonstrate.

Kar-İş Chairman Fuat Topaloğlu told Cyprus News Agency that public transportation has become unsustainable after the price hikes, that is why Kar-İş and KTTTB came together on Saturday and decided to take action.

He said their primary demand is to provide them with discounted fuel.
