Greek Cypriot authorities has arrested three foreigners for working and living illegally in the country after they were discovered by officials during checks on premises in Limassol, Famagusta and Larnaca, the police said on Sunday.

In Limassol members of the immigration service of the police, after a tip off, visited a fast food outlet where a 25-year-old woman from a third country was working illegally in the kitchen.

The woman was also found to have been staying illegally in the Republic since September 2021. She was arrested while police are also investigating a case of illegal employment against the two people who seem to have given her a job.

In Ayia Napa, again after a tip off members of the police found a third country national woman aged 27 illegally working in a bar. During investigations it was found out she had entered the country illegally and had since been staying here illegally.

She was arrested and an investigation was launched into her employer for illegal employment.

A further two people were found to be working illegally at a business in Larnaca. After checks following a tip off at a restaurant police found the 21 and 25-year-old women working in the kitchen. They were also third country nationals.

They were living legally in the country and after they were charged in writing were released to be called to court at a later date.
