New born baby goes missing at the Lefkosa State Hospital

News went out on Friday that a newborn baby belonging to a foreign national was kidnapped from the Lefkosa State Hospital and that the police are in search of the baby.

The abducted child was given birth to few days ago.

Hospital Chief Physician Adil Özyılkan announced that the matter was referred to the police and that necessary investigations were carried out.

It was reported in the press at noon today that a newborn baby was abducted by a different person at the Lefkosia Doctor Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital.

It was claimed that the mother who gave birth was treated in the intensive care unit of the neurology service for different reasons when the incident happened

A statement from Burhan Nalbantoğlu Chief Physician Özyılkan states that: “The matter has been referred to the police, research is being done”

Police in a statement said; The incident was brought to the attention of the police on 16.09.2022, when it was determined by the hospital management that the baby belonging to a foreign national woman who gave birth at the Lefkosia Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Gynecology Service was not in the service. The incident in question is being meticulously investigated by the police.”
