Efforts underway to increase the number of TRNC representative offices around the world

Efforts are currently underway to increase the number of representative offices of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus around the world, said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Speaking during a panel on the Cyprus Issue on Wednesday, Çavuşoğlu pointed out that the TRNC’s membership to the Organization of Turkic States will take place as and when it is internationally recognized.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu evaluated the Cyprus issue at the “Turkish Foreign Policy in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean” panel organized by the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research.

During the Q&A session of the panel, Minister Çavuşoğlu said that the TRNC’s representative offices abroad will be increased.

Noting that no steps have been taken by Russia to open a diplomatic office in the TRNC, Çavuşoğlu explained that they however were working to increase the number of representative offices of the TRNC in different countries.

Stating that there will be some developments in this regard in the coming days, he pointed out that the TRNC’s membership to the Organization of Turkic States will only be possible with its international recognition.

Çavuşoğlu also commented on the US’ decision to lift its arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot side.

“Who are these weapons to be used against? Against the Turkish Cypriots.  We are also building additional Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and bringing in additional reinforcements. They take decisions but we take action,” he said.

Responding to a question regarding the recently established US bases in Greece and the country’s various defense agreements, Çavuşoğlu said “preparing Greece to attack us means that Greece has lost its senses.”

He also pointed out that Türkiye always tried to bring diplomacy to the fore.
